Budget 2020 : Expectations & Expected Major Announcements

Amidst the slowdown in economy and falling GDP numbers, Budget 2020 presents a unique opportunity for the Modi government to kick-start demand and bring the economy back on track.

Budget 2020

Budget 2020 Expectations: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will most likely present the Budget 2020 - 21 on 1st February 2020. One may recall that Modi government has put an end to the years-long tradition of the budget being presented in late February. Pre-budgetary exercise has already been kick-started from October 14th onwards as per a Budget Circular from the Department of Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Finance regarding the process of budgeting. In a first the Finance Ministry has also asked for suggestions for changes in tax rates for individual people and companies as well as indirect taxes like excise and customs duties from representatives and stakeholders from various sectors. One can only assume the hectic lobbying and brainstorming which would also have begun in the corridors of the power.

Some major big-ticket reforms, expectations and announcement from the budget 2020-21 are mentioned as below:

Cut in Personal Income Tax Rates

  • It is believed that the middle class taxpayers form the core constituency of the Modi government. Thus this would not come as a surprise to many especially now when it is believed that the middle class is getting disillusioned and facing the brunt of economic slowdown and associated job losses. If sources are to be believed Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman may announce a lowering of the tax rate, most probably this will happen through a change in the tax slab. The FM has herself hinted about the same and if this happens it would be a welcome step and good news for low and middle income group and salaried people. Experts believe this would also help the FM put extra cash in the hands of the people so that demand for goods and services could be revived in markets.

Restarting Public and Private Investment and Growth

  • There are high expectations from this Budget 2020 as far as restarting public and private investment and bringing the India growth story back on track is concerned. Modi government’s vision of making India a 5 trillion dollar economy by 2024 cannot be fulfilled with the current slagging growth numbers. To boost these growth numbers the government requires a major thrust in both public and private spending and investments. This has to be done along with keeping fiscal deficit numbers and revenue collection numbers in check. Although there have been some positives such as increased FDI numbers and India’s continuous climb in business competitive index but still, much is still desired and major reforms and work has to be undertaken. Aggressive disinvestment targets can be amongst other steps that the government is expected to undertake to improve market sentiments and increase public and private investments. Restart lending by banks and NBFCs so that growth in demand can happen is another core expectation not only of businesses but also of general consumer, taxpayer and the youth of the country.

Boosting Revenue Collection Numbers

  • Falling GDP numbers also meant falling revenue collection and income for the government. Here the Modi government will have to walk a tight rope wherein they will have to give sops, tax breaks and incentives to various sectors and industries but yet will somehow find a way to boost its own tax collection and revenue numbers. Expanding tax base and thus increasing tax collection of both direct and indirect taxes will be one of the major areas where FM is going to concentrate is the view of experts. Almost all sectors are facing challenging times due to local as well as global issues. In such a scenario to boost revenue collection and cut expenditure will be a major challenge for the FM. A fine balance will have to be maintained so as to provide stimulus to various sectors, initiate reforms and also provide funds for socialist initiatives and schemes to provide relief to marginalised people of the country.

Impetus for slagging sectors

  • Experts believe that the government will be providing the much needed support and assistance to the ailing sectors of the economy such as the Automobile, Banks, Real Estate, Telecom and Aviation sector and industry in the budget 2020. Softening economic growth and product demand is one of the major concerns on FM’s hands which need to be addressed in the upcoming budget. Thus experts are of the view that the Modi government should make some special provisions in the budget to boost various slagging sectors so that the primary sector and supporting industries can also gain momentum. Although the wish list of all the sectors may not be fulfilled but many remain hopeful and optimistic. The Union budget for the financial year 2020-21 will be presented at the time when the figures for the third quarter will be finalized and all experts are pessimistic about these numbers. In such a situation the budget 2020 - 21 can help the government boost numbers and demand sector-wise. The Budget 2020-21 can be considered as a step towards the Modi government's goal of five trillion dollar economy.

A book named “26/11 : RSS Ki Sazish”

A book named “26/11 : RSS Ki Sazish” written by Aziz Burney (Editor-in-Chief of Urdu Sahara newspaper) was released by Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Dec 6, 2010 in Delhi, the book talks about the hand of RSS and Hindutva element behind 26/11 Mumbai Attacks.

26/11 : RSS Ki Sazish

Highlights of the book :-

1. The BJP and the RSS are responsible for 26/11 attack in Mumbai. The BJP did not raise its voice against the delay in probe (p. ll)

2. ATS chief Hemant Karkare was about to disclose many facts regarding Malegaon blast in which he was expected to expose many sadhus and saints including the BJP and the RSS (p. 28) (of-course to Digvijay Singh )

3. Mossad and CIA had assisted the Sangh Parivar in the attack carried out in Mumbai. With the tacit understanding of the USA, Saudi Arabia’s Maulana Bedi had collected fundamentalists. The then, Gujarat chief minister, Narendra Modi had helped in attackers’ arrival and stay (p. 41) (How can an Islamist writer forget Israel when creating conspiracy theories ? How can he forget to add Narendra Modi?)

4. Post 1993, all attacks in the country is the result of the nexus between the RSS and Mossad. Karkare was about to make all these disclosures to the media and was going to leave the country to settle abroad. Karkare was not killed by AK-47 but by the service revolver of the police. RAW and Home Ministry are investigating the role played by the Gujarat ATS in Karkare’s murder case. Karkare was killed by Hindutva-minded police officials and people from the Chota Rajan gang (p. 61)

5. The Congress is suspecting the involvement of the BJP in the Malegaon blast other than the RSS and Bajrang Dal. The BJP decided to give legal assistance to Sadhvi Pragya, the day Purohit told the CBI that the VHP leaders had given special contribution in formation of Abhinav Bharat. RSS leader Indresh Kumar has taken Rs 3 crore from the Pakistan intelligence agency ISI. The same day Karkare received the threat call and the very next day he was killed (p. 99)

6. The RSS and Israel are trying to make India unstable (p. 190) (again Israel)

7. In order to make India a Hindu nation, such blasts are being carried out (p. 219)

8. Abhinav Bharat was getting financial aid from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. Weapons were bought from the money provided by Praveen Togadia to kill Indresh Kumar (p. 232)

9. While the RSS is distributing a ” Trishul ” to youths and women, the Bajrang Dal is providing training to people for making bombs and causing blasts. The VHP had planted bombs in several mosques in Maharashtra to explode them (p. 584)

10. The RSS and VHP are trying to defame Muslims by forming terrorist organizations like Indian Mujahideen and Islamic Security Force. Indian Mujahideen was not involved in the bomb blasts in Assam. Bajrang Dal is a dubious organization and Indian Mujahideen is the code name of it. Editor of Communalism Combat, Teesta Setalvad mentioned in a report that the CBI is trying cover up Hindu Terrorism and Batla House encounter was fake (p. 597)

11. Election Commission of India must consider banning the BJP to contest elections. From Nathuram Godse to Sadhvi Pragya, violence is part of the RSS culture. About 100 Hindutva Organisations associated with the RSS are involved in the violent activities. Mentality of the police and the army in the country is anti-Muslim (p. 606)

Any buyer for this RSS ki Sazish book ?? I don’t think so except the terrorist.

World Senior Citizen’s Day 2019: Tips for Senior Citizens to Reach Financial and Emotional Independence

World Senior Citizens Day 2019 on August 21 is aimed at raising awareness about issues which affect the elders.

World Senior Citizen’s Day 2019

World Senior Citizens Day 2019: Now, while life indeed begins at retirement, it is also true that you retire from work and not from life. This means that you still need a steady stream of income to meet your household and medical expenses and fulfil your retirement dreams without depending much on your children or lowering your standard of living.

Here are some tips that can help senior citizens achieve their financial and emotional freedom:

1. Invest Wisely

  • Building a financial portfolio that maximizes returns and minimizes risks on your investments while generating a regular income and growing your money. It is always advisable for senior citizens to put around 80-85% of their investment in traditional financial instruments such as bank fixed deposit, Senior Citizen Savings Scheme, National Savings Certificate and  Monthly Post Office Income Scheme which are considered highly safe and liquid.

2. Consider Buying Health Insurance

  • Old age brings several ailments and illnesses. With increased life expectancy and the rising cost of medical care, you need to have some kind of financial backing. A health insurance plan is an ideal option to meet your medical bills.

3. Avoid Taking Debts

  • You should completely stay away from debts in old age. Do not fall into the trap of availing bank loans, credit cards or any other scheme that requires you to borrow money. Debts will put a financial burden on you, resulting in stress.

4. Stay Healthy and Active

  • You can reduce your medical bills considerably by exercising daily, staying active & eating a balanced diet. Go for a walk, do stretching exercises, meditate or do whatever physical activity your body permits.

5. Explore & Experience

  • The beauty of old age is that you can pursue dreams and passions that you couldn’t at a young age. Use your salt and pepper years to indulge in new experiences such as traveling, taking up adventure activities, cooking, painting, gardening or following any other hobbies that make you happy.
