Indian captain Virat Kohli unbeaten knock of 96 against Bangladesh in the semifinals of the Champions Trophy on Thursday help him to became the fastest cricketer to score 8000 runs in ODIs.
India captain Virat Kohli has become the quickest batsman to 8000 runs in one-day international cricket, beating AB de Villiers mark by seven innings. Kohli crossed the 8000-run mark in his 175th innings while AB de Villiers took 182nd innings.
The unbeaten knock of Virat 96* & Rohit Sharma 123* helped India to register a comfortable win against Bangladesh in the semifinals of the Champions Trophy here.
This was Kohli's 42nd ODI half-century & Rohit Sharma 11th ODI century.
Kohli, who came into the match with 88 needed to score 8000 runs, to reach the milestone.
Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan also became India's highest run-getter in the Champions Trophy, surpassing Ganguly's haul of 665 runs.
He also became the first batsman to score 300+ runs in two different editions of ICC Champions Trophy -- 2013 and 2017 respectively.
