The Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017 will be held in two phases on December 9 and December 14, the Election Commission (EC) has announced. Counting of votes will take place on December 18.
Assembly elections in Gujarat will be held in two phase, 89 Assembly constituencies will vote in phase 1, while 93 will vote in phase 2. Results will be announced for all 182 seats on December 18, along with Himachal Pradesh, which votes on November 9.
"There are 4.33 crore voters in Gujarat. 50,128 polling booths will be set up. Gujarat Elections 2017 will be fully VVPAT-based. 102 will be manned entirely by women," said Chief Election Commissioner.
Of the total 50,128 polling stations in Gujarat, 102 will be manned entirely by women.
With the announcement of the dates, the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) comes into force with immediate effect in the state.
