Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capitals by 5 wickets to claim their fifth IPL title. MI chased won DC’s 157-run target in 18.2 overs riding on a classy fifty by their captain and a cameo from Ishan Kishan.

Sports News: A peerless Rohit Sharma led defending champions Mumbai Indians to its fifth IPL title with a one-sided demolition of Delhi Capitals at Dubai International Stadium on Tuesday, closing an immensely successful tournament that had to be played in a controlled environment amid the raging Covid-19 pandemic.

Five IPL titles are certain to make Rohit the undisputed ‘Numero Uno’ player-cum-leader in the IPL Universe.

The 13th edition of Indian Premier League saw all 8 teams winning six matches each for the first time but in the end the table toppers defending champions Mumbai Indians and first-timers Delhi Capitals beat everyone else to earn the rights to be in the finals.

IPL 2020: Full Schedule, timings, dates, venues and match preview

 

UAE is gearing up to host 13th edition of the Indian Premier League i.e. IPL 2020. It will be a 53-day tournament which will feature 10-afternoon matches at 15:30 IST while the evening matches will start at 19:30 IST and the matches will be played in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.

IPL 2020 ScheduleDream11 IPL 2020 will kickoff on 19 September 2020 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The tournament opener will be played between defending champions Mumbai Indians(MI) vs Chennai Super Kings(CSK), who were the runner-ups in the IPL 2019 edition.

Overall, the 53-day IPL 2020 tournament will comprise 10 double-headers with the first match starting at 3.30 pm IST & second at 7.30 pm IST.  Among these, 24 matches will be held in Dubai, 20 in Abu Dhabi and 12 in Sharjah.

IPL 2020 Schedule: Date, time and venue of all matches

Season 13 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to begin on 29 March 2020 & the last league game of the IPL 2020 is scheduled on 17 May 2020.

IPL 2020 Full Schedule: The full schedule of the league phase of the 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is out with all eight teams playing seven home and 7 away matches.

An additional week has been included at the league stage. So, instead of the 44-day league stage seen in the last outing, the upcoming season will now have a 50-day league session. This will make the IPL 2020 the longest in the tournament history.

The organisers have scrapped double-header Saturdays, but Sundays will feature two matches this season.

Dates for the knockouts will be announced later.

Earlier, the IPL governing council had decided against changing timings of the night games from 8 pm to 7.30 pm despite pressure from a few stakeholders.

In a noble gesture, the BCCI will have an All Stars Game between all top international players before the start of IPL for a charitable cause.

The IPL 2020 auction was concluded, with a total of 338 players who went under the hammer with 62 players sold to 8 IPL teams in Kolkata.

Pat Cummins (Bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹15.50 Crore)
  • In the IPL 2020 auction, Pat Cummins emerged as the most expensive player. With Rs 15.5 crore IPL salary, he surged past Ben Stokes (who was bought by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for Rs 14.5 crore in IPL 2017 auction) to become the most expensive foreign player in IPL history.

Glenn Maxwell (Bought by Kings XI Punjab for ₹10.75 Crore)
  • Glenn Maxwell’s international break due to difficulties with mental health did not bother the franchises much as they went all out to buy the flamboyant all-rounder. Maxwell ended up fetching a whopping Rs 10.75 crores — becoming the second most expensive buy at the auction & will represent Kings XI Punjab in the upcoming 2020 edition.

Chris Morris (Bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for ₹10 Crore)

  • In what was one of the big surprises of the auction, South South African all-rounder Chris Morris was snapped up by RCB for a big amount of Rs 10 crore, he attracted bids from Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab & Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Sheldon Cottrell (Bought by Kings Xi Punjab for ₹8.5 Crore)

  • Caribbean left-arm pacer Cottrell is known for his wicket-taking capabilities in the powerplay and middle orders, along with a signature salute celebration. He has been the pick of the bowlers for West Indies over the past one year and his numbers are quite impressive – 117 wickets against his name from 83 matches at an average of 19.08.

Nathan Coulter-Nile (Bought by Mumbai Indians for ₹8 Crore)

  • Australian pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile was bought for a sum of Rs 8 crore by the defending champion Mumbai Indians. Coulter-Nile has been a consistent performer for the national team and continued his form in the domestic circuit too.
